Arenal Volcano is an active andesitic stratovolcano in north-western Costa Rica around 56 miles northwest of San José, in the province of Alajuela, canton of San Carlos, and district of La Fortuna. The Arenal volcano measures at least 1,633 meters about sea level (5,358 ft) high. It is conically shaped with a crater 140 meters (460 ft) in diameter.
The Manuel Antonio National Park is considered the gem of the area. With a small entrance fee you can explore the lush rainforest on well-maitained paths that wind their way through the National Park, leading you to different beautiful beaches.
